Keratoconus can be stopped — and the treatment is now here at home.

Keratoconus usually begins in the teenage years. The cornea — the clear front window of the eye — gradually thins and pushes outward into a cone shape. Vision becomes blurred and distorted, and each new pair of glasses helps a little less than the last.

Corneal collagen cross-linking is the one treatment proven to halt that progression. It does not undo damage already done, which is exactly why coming in early matters so much. Until now, patients in Manipur had to travel out of state for it. Today, Ibotombi Eye Care is the only hospital in Manipur that offers it.

Step 1

Corneal assessment

We confirm the diagnosis and check that your cornea is suitable for treatment.

Step 2

Riboflavin & UV light

Vitamin B2 drops are absorbed into the cornea, then activated by carefully measured UV light.

Step 3

Healing & review

You go home the same day, with scheduled reviews to confirm the cornea has stabilised.

  • Performed on the OMNI Cross Linking System with real-time eye tracking
  • Best suited to progressive keratoconus caught early
  • Day-care procedure — no travel outside Manipur
  • Every step explained to you beforehand, in your own language

Relevant screening

Who these services are built to serve.

Screening conversations are structured around three groups whose eye health benefits most from timely attention.

Children

School-going myopia checks

Ideal for children who struggle with classroom visibility, screen-related strain or changing spectacle needs.

Adults 50+

Glaucoma & age-related review

Helpful for routine pressure checks, progressive blur, cataract questions and long-term vision planning.

Diabetic patients

Retina-focused care

Retinal screening matters even before symptoms appear, making regular review essential for long-term eye health.

Orthoptek Therapy

A newly added option for amblyopia and binocular vision support.

Orthoptek was installed at Ibotombi Eye Care on April 17, 2026. Based on the available published and clinical descriptions, it is a non-invasive treatment approach used in amblyopia and related binocular vision disorders through visual stimulation training.

The device has been described as aiming to stimulate parvocellular and magnocellular pathways and support improvement in monocular vision, stereopsis and binocular cooperation in selected patients. Suitability still depends on proper examination and clinical judgment.

  • Relevant for lazy eye / amblyopia discussions
  • Can be considered in selected binocular vision or stereopsis-related cases
  • Non-invasive therapy pathway
  • Integrated into the clinic's pediatric vision and therapy service mix
Orthoptics & vision therapy

Proper equipment for squint, lazy eye and binocular vision.

Training the two eyes to work together takes more than an eye chart. These are the instruments our orthoptics team uses to measure the problem accurately and then work on it, session by session.

Squint

Measured, not guessed

The synoptophore lets us measure the exact angle of a squint and how well both eyes fuse a single image.

Lazy eye

Therapy that progresses

Exercises are set at a level your child can manage, then advanced as their eyes get stronger.

Patience

At a child's pace

Vision therapy takes months, not minutes. We keep it encouraging so children stay willing to return.

School eye check-up workshops

Invite us to your school — we bring the whole clinic with us.

Most children never mention that the blackboard looks blurred; they simply assume everyone sees the same way they do. Our team visits schools across Manipur to find those children — screening class by class, on your campus, during your school hours.

For schools & institutions

What a workshop day includes

We handle the setup, the screening and the paperwork — your school only needs to provide a room and a schedule.

  • Distance vision screening for every student, class by class
  • Autorefraction and trial-frame refraction for children who fail the screening
  • A short, simple eye-health talk for students and teachers
  • A written note home for any child who needs glasses or further examination
  • Priority follow-up appointments at the clinic for those children
How care moves

Assessment first, then a clearer treatment path.

You should not have to decode a website to work out whether we can help you. Here is how care actually flows through the clinic — assess honestly, plan clearly, then stay with you through follow-up.

Step 1

Screen & assess

Identify symptoms, age-related risk, diabetic eye concerns or child vision issues early.

Step 2

Plan the right care

Match the patient to routine care, monitoring, therapy, referral or treatment counseling.

Step 3

Stay consistent

Follow-up for cataract recovery, glaucoma review, retina checks and child vision growth.
