What services does Ibotombi Eye Care provide?

We provide cataract, cornea, glaucoma, medical retina, oculoplasty, dry eye management, myopia management, amblyopia management, vision therapy, contact lens care, Orthoptek-based therapy and corneal cross-linking (C3R) — the last of which is available at no other hospital in Manipur. We also run eye check-up workshops in schools. Each service includes a clear consultation pathway and structured follow-up.

Do you treat children as well as adults?

Yes. We treat all age groups with eye problems and maintain a dedicated focus on school-going children who need myopia screening and regular follow-up. Pediatric vision therapy is a core part of our practice.

Do you offer corneal cross-linking in Manipur?

Yes — and we are the only hospital in all of Manipur that does. Corneal collagen cross-linking (C3R) is performed in-house on the OMNI Cross Linking System. Until now, patients from the state had to travel outside Manipur for this treatment; today it is available here in Canchipur as a day-care procedure.

What is keratoconus, and can cross-linking cure it?

Keratoconus is a condition where the cornea gradually thins and bulges into a cone shape, blurring and distorting vision — it often starts in the teenage years. Cross-linking does not reverse damage that has already happened, but it is the one treatment shown to stop the condition getting worse. That is why coming in early matters so much. We will always tell you honestly whether the treatment is likely to help you.

Can you conduct an eye check-up workshop at our school?

Yes. We regularly take our team and equipment to schools across Manipur to screen students on campus. A workshop day includes distance vision screening for every child, autorefraction and trial-frame refraction for those who need it, a short eye-health talk, and a written note home for any child who needs glasses or further examination. Call us at 9863006204 with your school name, student numbers and preferred dates.

Who should come in for glaucoma screening?

Adults above 50 years and patients with glaucoma risk factors — such as a family history or diabetes — should consider timely review. Glaucoma can progress quietly without obvious symptoms, so routine checks are vital.

Why is diabetic retina screening important?

Diabetic patients can develop retinal changes before they notice any symptoms. A dedicated retina screening helps identify issues early and supports safer long-term vision outcomes.

Can I walk in, or do I need to book first?

We continue to support walk-in check-ins. However, booking online or calling the clinic helps us coordinate your visit faster and keeps waiting times predictable — your consultation is completed within the period you booked.

How does online booking work on this website?

Use the Book Consultation button anywhere on this website. You choose the day and time slot that suits you, confirm your details, and the appointment is registered with the clinic straight away. Plan the visit around your schedule — we make sure your consultation is completed within the period you booked.

What are the clinic timings?

Consultation timings are Monday to Saturday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 12 PM. Early morning slots work well for school children and working adults.

Do you provide contact lens support?

Yes. The clinic provides contact lens selection, fitting support and day-to-day usage guidance as part of its optical care offering — comfort, hygiene and long-term wear are all reviewed.

What is Orthoptek and who is it for?

Orthoptek is a non-invasive therapy device installed at the clinic on April 17, 2026, used for selected amblyopia (lazy eye) and binocular vision related cases. Suitability is confirmed only after a proper clinical examination.

I am nervous about eye examinations. What will the visit be like?

You are far from alone in that — most people are uneasy about anything near their eyes. We treat with empathy, and in practice that means we listen to your concern before any instrument comes near you, we explain what each test does, and we stop if you need a moment. Children are seen in a colourful, child-friendly room with picture-based charts, so a first eye test does not become a frightening memory. Nobody is rushed.

Will you tell me if I do not need treatment?

Yes, always. If a procedure will not help you, we will say so plainly. Honest advice matters far more to us than an extra appointment, and much of our work comes from families who trust us precisely because we told them what they did not need.

When should I seek urgent eye evaluation?

Sudden pain, redness, trauma, rapid vision loss, severe blurring or symptoms after an injury should never be ignored. Call the clinic immediately for guidance — early review prevents permanent damage in many cases.

Where exactly is the clinic located?

Ibotombi Eye Care is in Canchipur, Langthabal Kunja, south of Manipur University Main Gate, Imphal West, Manipur 795003. You will find a map and directions on the Contact page.

Do you offer follow-up care?

Yes. Follow-up is structured into every patient pathway — from post-cataract review to glaucoma monitoring, pediatric myopia tracking and diabetic retina screening over time.
